YES. We allow both campfires and BBQs, but they are subject to the following conditions:
Campfire Conditions
Campfires are a wonderful part of the camping experience, but they are only permitted under the following strict conditions:
Approved Baskets Only: Campfires are only allowed if they are in fire baskets hired directly from us.
Why? Our liability insurance requires this because our baskets have been thoroughly risk-assessed for safety. We cannot verify the safety of personal fire baskets, so they are strictly prohibited.
Never Unattended: You must never leave a lighted campfire unattended at any time.
Keep Wood Low: You must not load or burn wood above the top rim of the fire basket.
Water On Standby: You must have a container of water on standby next to your fire to extinguish it immediately if it begins to spread.
Curfew: All campfires must be completely extinguished by 11:30pm.
No-Fire Zones: No campfires or BBQ’s are allowed in our woodland or within 5 metres of any hedgerows.
Site staff will collect your hired fire basket on the morning of your departure, to empty and dispose all contents safely.
IMPORTANT – Any person found having fires on the grass will be charged for any damage and may be asked to leave.
In an Emergency: Report any fire issues immediately to our staff. Outside of office hours you can reach us 24/7 using the phone inside the red box located outside reception.
Cooking & Barbecue Rules
Gas Stoves & BBQs: Gas camping stoves and gas barbecues are permitted for cooking.
Disposable BBQs Banned: Disposable barbecues are completely banned anywhere on the campsite.
Raised BBQs Allowed: You are welcome to use your own charcoal barbecue, but it must be raised off the ground to prevent scorching the grass.
No BBQ Campfires: You must not use a barbecue as a campfire or burn logs in it.
